Hi Janet
Thanks again everything went great as usual when you send us anywhere!!
The Breezes Jibacoa resort is fantastic. Rooms are clean and beds are fantastic had great sleeps.
The beach is very clean and snorkelling was fun, lots to look at. Our only concern was later in the day jelly fish would appear and the water was red flagged, usually around 1 o’clock. What we heard is the jelly fish stay in the deeper water until the shallows warm up then come in to the shallows around noon, not every day but most days. There was only one person that we heard of who was stung by them. Water was warm and fun.
The food was great. We all found enough variety and it tasted just like you would get cooked here, lots of spice . The Italian restaurant was fantastic, like going out for a five course meal , wine was terrific? and food spectacular.? The Cuban restaurant was very good also not as splashy, great food and fantastic evening.
The bars were great, lots of choices for liquor and drinks!!
SunWing rep. was very good and got us on 3 tours, we enjoyed them a lot. Went to Havana for a day tour, excellent tour guide, had a fantastic day , quite an eye opening experience.
The girls are a little tired of hovering when going to the
washrooms,great workout though!!
The tip for washroom use worn a little thin by the last days of the trip!!
Took a Jeep tour the next day and had a lot of laughs all day long, snorkelled, ate on a plantation, walked into a cave, toured the country side. Went on a river cruise also, did the same snorkel place which was fantastic, ate at a holiday resort park, river cruise, history tour of Matanzas city.
Walked up to the top off the hill above the resort and toured a couple of farms on way down.
Overall we had a fun week in the sun (little breezy at this time of the year), no injuries or food issues.
Thanks again. Looking forward to next trip!!!

Hey Janet,
I’ve been meaning to send you a big thank you for all your help with
us last minute hooligans!!
And I was going to let you know the trip was good. We hit amazing weather (a few people leaving as we got there were saying it was pretty cool the prior week-unable to sit by the pool cool…) so we were lucky that way. The resort was very pretty, great food at some of the restaurants, not quite as great at one, and amazing at another. (Would highly recommend it though).
[Janet notes: resort was Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda in the Mayan Riviera, Mexico]
My brother got the swim-up suite, so we upgraded to upstairs from
him. For us both to get the suites we would have had to be indifferent buildings-didn’t make much sense (especially at $75 US per person per night-just if anyone asks the cost of an upgrade)
BUT I don’t think I’d go again. I found I was disappointed (maybe just pining for Cuba still). But seriously, there was a lot of pressure to do tours that were inappropriate for the kids (ie-a pirate ship cruise was really promoted as a family event when it was waaaaaay more of a booze cruise where we didn’t get fed until close to 10pm-but still was a neat thing to do and great food). Just not for small kids. It’s called Captain Hook-if anyone asks (if their
kids are a bit bigger and can eat late and get home well after midnight it was still kinda fun.) It’s Captain Hook against the Mexican version of Johnny Depp.
I think the biggest disappointment though was the lack of sincerity from the workers. I really got the impression that they didn’t care if you were from Canada, US, or Quebec. My brother got asked at least twice how much crack was in Canada by different people. We tipped our housekeeper every day, and my brother the non-tipper always had nicer “towel animals” and a cleaner room than we ever had. Maybe because he paid a teeny little bit more for his room…
‘The waiter service was quite poor at 2 of the buffets for how non-
busy they were often.
The Sunwing rep on the bus from the airport was amazing!!! A lot of very useful information! (like to stay away from timeshare people..
which my sister-in law didn’t know… lol) She was told by the concierge that it was a “tour of the resort to see what all they had to offer” over breakfast.
I’m sure none of what I say comes as a surprise to you-we both knewCuba was where I should have gone… sigh. None of the kids got sick, heck none of us adults got sick! And we all got a bit of a tan and drank some realllllly good
mojitos! And none of that can be anywhere close to bad.
Thanks again,
I’ll be giving you a call when we scrimp enough to make it to Cuba!!

It is with real pleasure that I take time to write this letter recommending Janet McKelvie. As an owner /operator of a small business I am very busy and need competent resourceful staff and I expect even more of my suppliers.
I can say without reserve that Janet McKelvie services have always met or exceeded my expectations. Whether it is the personal delivery of a ticket or vacation book or the extra time she takes to ensure that we are choosing the right vacation for the age or our kids – she always gave excellent service. Also I have seen her work with an unhappy client for as long as it took to make them satisfied.
I met Janet about 8 years ago. I have always been aware that she enjoys her profession and takes pride in being a professional. I would recommend her to anyone who needs the advice of a good travel agent.
